About National Football League:
Amongst all the other football leagues in America, the National Football League is considered to be the most-prestigious and the largest professional football leagues. It comprises of 32 teams from the towns, regions, and cities of America.
Dominance of NFL Football:
The dominance of the NFL Football came in the 1980’s and the 1970’s. At that time, the NFL coagulated their dominance in both the American culture, as well as the top spectator sport in America. It was considered to be an unofficial national holiday during the Super Bowl. The NFL Football used to be amongst the highly viewed television program for most of that time. The football show “Monday Night Football”, which used to be aired in the 70’s, mixed both entertainment and sports and raked in high television ratings. Thanks to the change of rules in the late 70’s, football became a quick paced game which attracted lots of casual fans. Thanks to the establishment of the United States Football League in the beginning of the 80’s, the competition with NFL was prominent. Although, the United States Football League was a competitor which was well-financed and included famous players in its league along with contracts on the national television, the inability on the part of the USFL to make any sort of profits resulted in it shutting down within three years of its establishment.
Expansion of NFL Football:
The current years have witnessed the expansion of the National Football League into new ventures and markets. In the year 1986, a series of exhibition games were held by the NFL football. These were known as the American Bowls and were organized at international venues outside of the United States. The year 1991 saw the establishment of the World League of American Football, which later came to be known as the NFL Europa. This league was at its initial stage of development. It included teams from Netherlands and Germany, until such time as the NFL closed it in the month of June, in 2007. Recent announcements have indicated that the season game between the New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins would be conducted outside the North American Continent. The games are to be held on the Wembley Arena in London. |
