NATIONAL INDOOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Introduction:
The National Indoor Football League is basically an indoor football league minor in nature. The NIFL was established in the United States. In its initial stages, the National Indoor Football League comprised of teams, which were neither addressed by the Arena Football League, nor the af2. Thanks to the expansion of the National Indoor Football League in markets which included cities, such as Los Angeles, Atlanta, Denver, Fort Myers, Cincinnati and Houston.
History of the NIFL:
The National Indoor Football League was established in the Lafayette township of Louisiana. Carolyn Shiver found the National Indoor Football League. The operations of the league began in the year 2001. Most of the teams which were incorporated into the National Football League were from the predecessor, the Indoor Football League. From the year 2002, the teams from the Indoor Professional Football League also came in to join the National Indoor Football League. The most successful year for the NIFL was the year 2003, when as much as 24 teams competed for the event with nil cancellations. Although, the NIFL had its own problems, mainly in the expansion process, the problems of the league were outbalanced by the success of the league. Subsequently, the problems of the league came into limelight. Prior to the 2005 season, as much as 9 teams abandoned the league and joined the United Indoor Football. In the same year, four teams from the Intense Football League came in to join the NIFL. Even these teams abandoned the league, prior to the start of the 2006 indoor football season.
Miscellaneous:
Subsequent to the 2006 season of the National Indoor Football League, as much as 50% of the league left to join other football leagues. In the year 2007, the National Indoor Football League began to play with as much as 19 expansion teams and 5 franchisees from the previous year. |
